Sakura Miyawaki: Well, this recording took place on January 10, 2021.

This is the first recording of 2021, but as for how I started the new year, this is really sad news, but I was asleep.

The reason is that on December 31st, we (IZ*ONE) appeared on a music program, and that was the recording that day.

And since it was the recording that day, I woke up at about 4am, so I got up quite early.

So I was completely asleep at the moment of New Year’s Eve (laughs)
Um… sorry. When I woke up, the new year had already come.

But in Korea, it’s the Lunar New Year, so we have New Year’s holidays. So we take them in February, but in Japan, it’s already a New Year’s mood from December 31st to around January 3rd.
But in Korea, we only have a day off on January 1st, and everyone goes back to work on January 2nd.
So I don’t really feel like it’s New Year’s. Of course we don’t have osechi or anything like that.
And there’s a Korean dish called tteok, which is like ozoni, but I didn’t eat it. It didn’t feel like New Year’s.
Only recently have I finally started to feel like, oh, the new year has started.

That’s because I started writing a diary again this year (laughs).
I wrote a diary for about three or four months from October last year, around October 2019. Well, I stopped writing after that (laughs).
But in 2021, I’ve made a fresh start, and I’m writing my diary with the feeling that I’ll definitely continue writing this year.
So when I write like that, instead of each day just passing by, I can organize what happened today, and I feel like I’ve finally done that and called it a new year, to be honest.
The atmosphere is really completely different. It didn’t feel like New Year’s, it was just normal.
Well, I had quite a bit of practice, so it started on January 2nd (lol)
so it just felt like a normal day off.
