On the 12/30/2020 (Wed) broadcast of the bayfm radio program “Tonight, Under the Sakura Tree” (every Wednesday from 24:00 to 24:30).
Miyawaki Sakura: What did you think of this year’s last “Tonight, Under the Sakura Tree” brought to you by IZ*ONE’s Miyawaki Sakura?
Yena also popped in (laughs), and it was a fun Sakura.
Well, 2020, if you ask me what kind of year it was, well, I never got to meet WIZ*ONE in person, well… but we did have three comebacks in Korea, released Twelve in Japan, and did an online concert, and we couldn’t go overseas, but I think it was a very fulfilling year, and because we spent so much time at home, I think it was a year in which I was able to try new things, like composing and writing lyrics.
I think that as humans, we lose things without realizing it when we keep running, and there are many things we can only understand if we stop and take a step back.
Also, I feel like if I keep only outputting, I’ll end up with nothing inside me, so I think this year was about absorbing.
I think it was a year of input, so I watched a lot of manga, dramas, and movies. I think it was a year in which I absorbed a lot of different things.
I watched things I’d never seen before, like SHOW ME THE MONEY, and started listening to Western music, and it was a year in which I stepped into a world I’d never been to before, so I hope that next year will be a year in which I can let out what I’ve absorbed. I think 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone around the world, but I hope that we idols have been able to bring a little smile or energy to such a difficult year. Yes.
This year also made me realize once again how important it is to all the fans who support me even though we are far apart, so I feel like it has really been a year of realizations, growth, and absorption.
Yes, 2020 is almost over, but once again, thank you so much for your support over the past year.
In 2021 I will continue to work hard and aim for even greater heights as an idol, so I would appreciate your continued support in 2021.
