Why Sugisaki Hana stopped having long hair

Sugisaki Hana: First up is a 12-year-old from Hiroshima Prefecture, born in the Year of the Rat.

Listener email: Good morning, Sugisaki Hana.

Sugisaki Hana: Good morning!

Listener email: This year, I’m in the 6th grade.

Sugisaki Hana: Congratulations.

Listener email: I’ve always wanted long hair, so I’m in the middle of growing it out. I really don’t want to cut it. But if I don’t cut it, my mother will get angry.

Why did you cut your hair, which was so long, Hana?

I’m looking forward to the morning drama starring you, Hana. Do your best.

Sugisaki Hana: Thank you. That’s a cute message.
Why do you think your mom gets mad if you don’t cut your hair?

My hair was originally really long too. I wonder how long it was…I think it reached down to my waist. I cut it little by little, but…
No one would notice if I cut 10 or 15 cm off…(laughs).
I guess I was already so used to it being so long that no one would notice if I cut it that much…

The reason I cut my hair was because I did a drama two years ago called “Hana Nochi Hare,” which was based on a novel, and the character had short hair, so I cut it to match.
I’ve always wanted to cut my hair, but on the other hand, it’s hard to cut it unless the right timing is right for a work or something…so I was really happy.

The reason why Sugisaki Hana didn’t want to cut her hair short when she was in elementary and junior high school

But I remembered that when I was in elementary school or junior high school and I wasn’t in an agency, there were times when I wanted to cut my bangs or cut my hair short, but just like the Year of the Rat, my mother didn’t get angry, but she always opposed it.

The reason is that my right ear is bigger than my left, so it’s obvious. She said that it would stand out and it wouldn’t suit me.

The reason why my right ear is bigger is, well…when I was little, I would “fold my right ear” and lie down like this (laughs).

Then, my ear opened up like this and “got bigger” (laughs).
Really (laughs). This is true, but…it’s definitely different. The size of my left and right ears.

So even when I let my hair down, about half of my ear would stick out from my hair. It’s a big problem. Well, after cutting it, I realized that “whether my hair is long or short, my big right ear stands out” (laughs).

But you’re right. Long hair makes you look a little more mature, and that’s good too.
I hope that someday I’ll be able to have the hairstyle I want.
On the other hand, I’m currently growing my hair out for a morning drama. My bangs and such are getting longer and longer, so I’m bothered by the awkward length right now and I want to cut it, but I’m holding back.

I hope you’ll look forward to the morning drama.
Thank you for your message, Nesumi-san.

Sugisaki Hana’s big ears and the trouble

…Speaking of ears, I remembered one more thing, um…I had a problem with my big ears. This is a continuation of the story about “my ears sticking out from my hair”, but at one shooting location, the makeup artist said to me, “Oh, your ears are big.”
Someone once said to me, “This is a bit weird, isn’t it? It bothers you,” and when I replied, “Well… I suppose so. It bothers me,” they asked me, “Should I stick… ears?” When I said, “What do you mean?”, they said, “Put your ears… well, stick them to your head (laughs).
They also suggested that I try to prevent them from sticking out (from my hair). Also, I once put a little hair extension on just the right side so that it wouldn’t be so noticeable…

That’s right.
It was just an aside that if your ears are big… if “just one ear” is big, it can be a problem (laughs).
