On the bayfm radio program “Tonight, Under Sakura’s Tree” (every Wednesday from 24:00 to 24:30), broadcast on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
IZ*ONE’s Miyawaki Sakura introduced “How to learn vocabulary from Korean dramas” and recommended Korean dramas to a university student listener who is studying Korean.
Listener email: Good evening. I’m Ruri from WIZONE, who loves IZONE.
It’s been hot and hot in Japan. It’s so hot that it’s hard to live every day.
I’m a second-year university student this year.
Actually, I’ve liked HKT48 since I was in the first year of junior high school, and my favorite was Nako-chan. I spoke to Nako-chan, who I’ve been supporting for a long time, for the first time at a high-five event. It was the shortest 10 seconds of my life.
Changing the subject, I joined IZONE after the auditions started, and I’ve been supporting IZONE ever since. I chose to take Korean classes in my first year of university so that I could understand Korean at least a little.
I don’t understand the meaning yet, but I’ve learned to read Hangul slowly and can now introduce myself. You taught me the Korean phrase “사랑해요 (saranghaeyo)” as a recommended phrase for concerts in Japan…
Miyawaki Sakura: That was super basic… (laughs). I’m sorry.
Listener email: Please let me know if there are any other Korean phrases I can use when traveling to Korea. I’ll continue to support you.
Miyawaki Sakura: Thank you. I think the phrase you can use when traveling to Korea is “괜찮아요 (kenchanayo)”… something like “It’s okay.”
Recently I learned “단도직입 적 (straightforward)” (laughs).
I learned it while watching a drama. When I watch a drama with Korean subtitles, I really learn a lot by stopping, looking up, and watching words I don’t understand.
If you are studying Korean, please watch “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”. I really cried so hard yesterday that I was sobbing. Really. As the story progresses, you understand a lot of things.
“It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” is a “love story”, but for me it’s about “family love”. It’s a story about family. It really makes you think a lot… it’s painful and sad, but it’s also moving and makes you feel warm… It’s really a great drama that is full of emotions!
If you don’t want to go out on the weekends or holidays, but you’re bored, please watch it. It’s a drama called “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”. It’s on Netflix, so please watch it.
