On the 2021/1/31 (Sun) broadcast of the TOKYO FM radio program “Sugisaki Hana’s Flower TOKYO” (every Sunday from 8:00 to 8:30).
Sugisaki Hana: I think the broadcast of Ochoyan has finished up to the 8th week, what do you think?
Well, I think it was a very hectic episode, with Dad appearing, saying goodbye to Kogure-san, and saying goodbye to everyone at the cafe.
Well, there’s a line I really like in the 8th week, which is what Tatsuko the hairdresser says to Chiyo. There’s a scene where Chiyo is depressed and says, “I couldn’t do anything during this filming period,” and at that time, Chiyo confides to Tatsuko that she feels “that’s frustrating,” and it’s advice that only Tatsuko, who has been working as a hairdresser for a long time, can give: “Hair grows to get rid of the bad things in your body.” There’s a line that says, “Hair that has absorbed the poison falls out and new hair grows in its place.”
He tells her that all the bad things Chiyo had during her three years here will fall out and she will be reborn anew, and it’s really…
I thought those were such wonderful words, and it was a scene that really touched me when I read the script.
There were a lot of sad farewells, but I thought the ending was one that allowed her to take a new, strong step forward, so it was a really heartwarming episode that I loved.
