Sugisaki Hana: Well, today I’d like you to join me in this program. It’s called “10 Questions and 10 Answers with Yoshizawa Ryo and Sugisaki Hana!” Explanation of the program content Sugisaki Hana: Well, from now on, it’s a simple program that says, “Prepare 10 questions you want to ask each other and ask them directly!” Yoshizawa Ryo: I see. Sugisaki Hana: 10 questions is surprisingly many, isn’t it? Yoshizawa Ryo: 10 questions is quite a lot, isn’t it. Ah… I’m only hearing this now, you know? Sugisaki Hana: Sorry, but I’ve already prepared 10 questions (laughs). Yoshizawa Ryo: Eh? So fast.

…So fast!

Sugisaki Hana: (laughs).

Yoshizawa Ryo: …But surprisingly.

Don’t you think the things I’m going to ask you now will be pretty “deep”? Isn’t that the case?

Sugisaki Hana: No, but, somehow… I feel like it.

Yoshizawa Ryo: It seems like it would be, don’t you?

When you ask questions like this…usually when you ask someone you’ve just met, like “Nice to meet you,” you usually understand things once you’ve been together.
When you’re going to “ask them now” after acting together… it seems pretty difficult.

10 questions…I don’t know how much I can ask an actress (laughs).

Sugisaki Hana: Please ask me anything (laughs).

Yoshizawa Ryo: Can I ask you anything (laughs)?

Sugisaki Hana: Well then, let me start by asking Yoshizawa Ryo 10 questions and 10 answers.
“10 Questions and 10 Answers from Sugisaki Hana to Yoshizawa Ryo!”

Picking up some interesting questions

Sugisaki Hana: …Well, that means the 10 Q&A is over for now.
So I’d like to pick up some interesting questions.

Yoshizawa Ryo: Yes.

Sugisaki Hana: Oh, I was a little surprised that you listened to BiSH…

Yoshizawa Ryo: “BiSH”, huh? I listen to it.

Sugisaki Hana: “BiSH” is great, isn’t it? I like it too.

Yoshizawa Ryo: Oh, really? BiSH is really great, isn’t it? They’re cool, aren’t they?

Sugisaki Hana: Yes. They’re cool, aren’t they?

Yoshizawa Ryo: I saw them on a variety show and thought “What is this?”, and then I looked into them and… their songs are cool, and their PVs are really cool too. I fell in love with them right away.

Sugisaki Hana: Are there any songs you would particularly recommend?

Yoshizawa Ryo: Ah… they’re all cool, but I think I like “My landscape” the best.

Sugisaki Hana: “My landscape”… I’ll give it a listen.

Yoshizawa Ryo: Please give it a listen.

Sugisaki Hana: When asked “How do you remember your lines?” she answered “with determination” (laughs).

Yoshizawa Ryo: It’s all about determination.

Sugisaki Hana: Uh, so… is it like “reading and memorizing”?

Yoshizawa Ryo: Yes.

Sugisaki Hana: There are all kinds of ways, aren’t there?

Yoshizawa Ryo: Yeah. Some people really “write” and some people “record their own voice”…
But for me, I just read it out loud… from beginning to end, over and over again.
It’s like “I’ll keep doing it until I remember it!”

Sugisaki Hana: Ah, I see.

Yoshizawa Ryo: But when I was talking about this with Hana-chan on set… you know…
Hana-chan said something like “I always memorize it the day before.”
I thought, “Wow!” When I heard that.

Sugisaki Hana: Uh, really?

Yoshizawa Ryo: And the next day was… those two. The day before the last scene, which was really long, I said something like “Tomorrow’s lines are crazy,” and she said something like “I haven’t memorized them yet,” and I was like “Huh?”.

Sugisaki Hana: Like someone who’s slacking off… (laughs).

Yoshizawa Ryo: “What! Is there anyone who hasn’t memorized those long lines at this point?” I thought, and I said “Are you okay?” and she said “What? But I memorize every scene the day before.” I thought “Wow. This girl is a genius.”

Sugisaki Hana: No, no, no. That’s not true (laughs).

Yoshizawa Ryo: And then, when I got there the next day, she really didn’t stumble over her lines at all.
She was so into her acting that I thought “I can’t believe she can memorize that much the day before.”

Sugisaki Hana: No, not at all…
…So does that mean Yoshizawa-san memorizes a lot of stuff in advance?

Yoshizawa Ryo: Well, depending on the scene, there are some parts that I memorize the day before, but… those difficult scenes, I definitely do it in advance. I have to kind of… memorize it in my head little by little. Because then I won’t be able to say it during the actual performance.

Sugisaki Hana: I see.
…But it’s amazing. That means your memory lasts that long, right?

Yoshizawa Ryo: Hmm, well… but the moment I say it, it’s all gone. Once the scene is over.
…On the other hand, how do you remember it? The day before.

Sugisaki Hana: Well. I memorize by “recording the other person’s lines and having a conversation with them.”

Yoshizawa Ryo: Wow! That’s amazing.

Sugisaki Hana: No, it’s kind of easy to remember.

Yoshizawa Ryo: Oh, really?

Sugisaki Hana: Yes.

Yoshizawa Ryo: Ah… that’s new.
So you record “the other person’s lines” instead of “your own lines”?

Sugisaki Hana: That’s right.

Yoshizawa Ryo: That’s amazing.

Sugisaki Hana: I’m pretty speechless at myself (laughs).
Even for the scenes with Yoshizawa, I recorded his lines myself…
I was thinking, “No, Kaede… it’s not like that!”

Yoshizawa Ryo: While doing it yourself? That’s interesting.
