Honda Hitomi: Finally, a quick Korean lesson from Hii-chan.

Well, last week I taught my catchphrase “추워요 (chuwoyo)”. This time, hmm, what would be good…?

Ah, so when I want to say “thank you” in a casual way, I often put it in a translator and it comes out as “감사 (gamsa)” (laughs).
But I don’t say “gamsa”, I use “고마워 (gomawo)”.
So, if you want to say “thank you” to your friends in Korean, try saying “gomawo”.

“감사합니다 (Kamsahamnida)” is the most formal honorific used with older people, followed by “감사해요 (Kamsahaeyo)” or “고마워요 (Komawoyo)” which means thank you. It’s a little more intimate, and when you’re talking to a friend you use “고마워 (Komawo)”.
