This time it’s the end of the year, so the word “end of the year” is, um, “연말(yongmal)” in Korean. End of the year.
Well, if you write it down, you’ll understand, but the Chinese characters and the Korean characters are the same.
So “year-end and New Year’s holidays” is “연말련시(yongmalyongsi)”.
Yes, “시(si)” is the same, right, as “start of the year”.
The “year” at the end of the year is “연 (Yong)”, so we say “연말련시 (Yongmalyongsi)” (laughs)
Oh yeah, when you look at it with Hangul, you can see “Oh, this is the same as this kanji”,
so if you’re studying Korean, I think it’s easier to remember various words if you learn them in Hangul instead of Katakana. That’s what I did too.
